Recommending a Site

Registered users can recommend a site by going here...

Recommending sites is the meat and potatoes of LibSite.org. You recommend one by creating a Web Citation ("WebCite"). To do so, you need the following information:

  1. Title -- name of site
  2. Author(s) - name of individual(s) or institution providing site
  3. Free Tags - tags like 'Blog' or 'Wiki'. Use what's there or create your own. For more info, see Free Tagging.
  4. URL - URL of site
  5. Description - Description of site

What to Post?

Anything that's "library-related" is fair game. It can be a blog whether personal or institutional, a library website -- either new or redesigned. It can be a digital collection, a research site or one devoted to instruction. It can be in a school, public setting or even in private industry.

Reasons for Turning Down a Site

All submissions are moderated and on extremely rare occasions a site is not approved.

Probably the most likely reason is because it's a duplicate of something that's already been posted. (Redesigns or other substantial improvements are naturally okay.)

Another reason is because it's not related to librarianship. A final reason is because we're not comfortable with the subject matter or because we feel it's inappropriate for this site. Advocacy of censorship is a perfect example.

Needless to say, the vast majority of submissions are not only welcomed but approved!
