EDUCAUSE Connect (Library Section)
Submitted by sidster on Thu, 10/04/2007 - 08:15.EDUCAUSE maintains a library of content of interest to those interested in leveraging information technology in higher education. In addition to the content cataloged by a professional librarian, the site also integrates topical blogs, wikis and podcasts as well as content from a number of third party sources. The site also features an number of options for faceted navigation.
Some key examples include:

University of Virginia Library Website
Submitted by Leo Klein on Tue, 10/02/2007 - 15:00.Whoever did the design work on this ought to be congratulated! Really nice looking site. Even the 2nd Tier pages like the Database and Contacts pages are well laid out. There's the (by now) normal multi-search box at the top. For chat on their Ask A Librarian Page, they're using Meebo.
All-in-all a nice job!
UIUC Website
Submitted by Leo Klein on Sat, 09/22/2007 - 10:20.New site redesign from U. of I. at UC. The organization is simple enough and you can tell that they spent a lot of time making it easy to search for items.
The use of Ajax on the main page to go from one search option to another is particularly effective.
Graphically, the site is about average. The 2nd tier pages need a better layout (the content just looks thrown together).
Also, linking back to the Library's home page from 2nd tier pages and browsing databases by subject still need work.
