Florida SUNLINK Project @ UCF

SUNLINK is Florida's K-12 union database of school library media holdings with records for over 1.7 million titles and 26.6 million holdings from over 2700 public schools. Funded to provide increased access to information for students, SUNLINK was originally a resource sharing tool. SUNLINK is also a source of downloadable MARC records for SUNLINK schools and has facilitated local and district automation projects.

The opening screen features rotating seasonal graphics and links, a QuickSearch (keyword) field, and a link to an advanced search screen. SUNLINK is searchable by author, title, subject, keyword, location, language, format, date, reading level, interest level, Lexile level, and several reading program attributes. SUNLINK's main screen also links to several popular research tools, reading lists, and "link of the day" resources popular with students and teachers. There are tabs on the main page leading to additional resources for students, parents, teachers, principals and school library media specialists.

The library media specialist resource pages highlight additional SUNLINK resources and features: training, monthly newsletter, QuickFlix videos, forms, presentations, link of the week, the SUNLINK Community, the SUNLINK Anouncements blog, age of collection data by school and district, a professional calendar, a school directory, and more.

In addition to the records for materials in local school collections, SUNLINK contains licensed book covers and records for over 26,000 educational websites, Annenberg streaming videos, and images from the Florida Memory project.

SUNLINK is funded by the Florida legislature through the Florida Department of Education. It is administered by a grant to the University of Central Florida's College of Education.

SUNLINK welcomes user input and new ideas. Many of the innovations and improvements to the project and site over the years have come from Florida's school library media specialists.
