Nice clean site. Puts what you need at your finger-tips in a well-ordered way. See the E-Research Tools or Ask-Us Page for an examples. The initial search box that greets you on the home page is also a good example.

On the con-side, the help and general info pages aren't that inspired.

Extremely well-done library website done in Drupal. This together with FSU are probably my two most favorite library sites using Drupal at the moment.

The site's database page is almost a reenactment in the flesh of my screencast "Creating a Library Database Page Using Drupal". The SFX integration for journals looks interesting.

On their 'Ask-a-Librarian' Page they have three Meebo widgets -- interesting approach.

Visually the site and clean and extremely well done. No blog-look here. I also like flexible widths of the layout.

All-in-all a very good job!

Claremont Colleges Library Website

Wonderfully designed, extremely pleasing looking website from Claremont College. Again all the usual suspects of a modern academic website are there: news, 'ask us', an events calendar, plus links to databases and other online resources.

Everything is well laid out and visually appealing -- event the Staff Directory.

The Robert W. Woodruff Library is the main library of Emory University (Atlanta, GA). The site is well designed and extremely good looking. It's got everything there: news, calendar, links to databases, etc. In a sense, this is the direction of all academic library websites (at least the lucky ones). And yet, I'm left wondering if the design is a bit too reticent and restrained and whether we as academics are missing out on "suggest a resource" and "most popular items" that would be the first things we'd see on a commercial site.

The site could also use a "Help" option (yes, I know, "Ask a question"...)

So visually I think it works. It just needs to be a bit more "courageous" in its implementation.

Whoever did the design work on this ought to be congratulated! Really nice looking site. Even the 2nd Tier pages like the Database and Contacts pages are well laid out. There's the (by now) normal multi-search box at the top. For chat on their Ask A Librarian Page, they're using Meebo.

All-in-all a nice job!

New site redesign from U. of I. at UC. The organization is simple enough and you can tell that they spent a lot of time making it easy to search for items.

The use of Ajax on the main page to go from one search option to another is particularly effective.

Graphically, the site is about average. The 2nd tier pages need a better layout (the content just looks thrown together).

Also, linking back to the Library's home page from 2nd tier pages and browsing databases by subject still need work.
