The Howe Library in Hanover, NH has a newly redesigned web site:

  • attractive
  • good architecture
  • catalog search very prominent on the homepage
  • moving from web site to catalog is seamless
  • kids & teens pages have a distinct look but maintain the
overall structure of the web site
  • "Ask us" is featured prominently throughout the website, links to a form
  • online features include museum pass booking, room booking, donations
  • virtual "online" library is a prominent feature
  • content management system allows for easy updating and maintenance
  • link to events calendar offered on every page

The site is attractive in Internet Explorer, but in Firefox the rounded corners break on the homepage's most prominent layout element. Either something is already breaking or Cambium Group, LLC doesn't cross-browser test its designs. :(

I'm diagree with that comment. The site looks and operates fine in firefox???? I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.1 and it looks great. Nice work to the design firm.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14 -- this is what I'm seeing:

1) The first time I view the page it breaks. The table that holds the tabs, rotating image, logo, etc. (main content of the page) drops about 70px down from where it's supposed to be.

2) If I refresh the page, it fixes itself, looks perfect.

3) If I clear the browser cache and refresh the page, it breaks again. Very weird!

I'm also seeing a little breakage in FF3 (there is a random line of gray background above the logo), but that doesn't seem to be affected by refreshing or cache-clearing.

Here's the site on Browsershots:
