Book Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale has one job: protect humans from dangerous fae...

It's a job she's good at—until the cute guy whose life she just saved follows her back into the dangerous world of magic. Now Vi has broken Guild law, landing herself in a whole lot of trouble.

The last thing she wants to do is spend any more time with the guy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget about the magical world he's discovered. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, plenty of mystery and intrigue, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a deadly plot, and it'll take all her training to get out alive.

This set is an introduction into a new world of fairies and magic. Violet is your navigator into this world and is a very complicated young woman. When we first meet her, she is just finishing her training to become a Guardian. Guardians are trained fairies who are the police so to speak of the fairy world. They are sent to protect humans from fairies and other supernaturals. She has lost both her parents who were also Guardians and is determined to be first in her class. She has totally focused on school and has not had any romantic relationships and is very protective about letting other people into her life. One assignment during that final week dramatically changes her life as well as the life of all of those in the fairy realm. She learns to love, she loses those she cares greatly about, and almost loses herself during the battles she faces. I had not read any previous books by Rachel Morgan and was totally thrilled with this journey. There are lots of surprises in store for the reader and it is like nothing I have read before. If you like an imaginative storyline with characters that invoke strong emotions, definitely read this collection. I have a new favorite author. I received a copy from the author in return for a honest review.
  • What a great series!

Creepy Hollow 1 - The Faerie Guardian The Faerie Guardian tells the story of Violet, the perfect guardian trainee that ends up messing up an assignment by accidently bringing a human boy into the faerie world. The plot of the book develops from there and gets more complex and the story develops. The Faerie Guardian really surprised me. From the beginning, I thought it was setting itself up to be a Violet and Nate story and I was okay with that. Halfway through the book I noticed that was I was getting was better than that, it was a story about Violet’s journey to deal with the events in her past and present. Violet and Nate’s banter is entertaining and their relationship develops nicely, if a bit fast, but something in my gut made me distrustful of him from the beginning and my gut was right. I won’t elaborate more on it to make this review spoiler-free. Get reading, if you want to know more! Ryn is very annoying from the start and his reasons for hating Violet are a bit unreasonable but he starts growing a bit on you by the end of the book. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book and finding out what happens next on Violet’s journey. Overall, this book was very fast-paced and action-packed got me coming back for more. Personally, I could have done with a small prologue with some kind of background information on the bigger story behind the faeries with special powers or something like that, but it was still a very good read. Creepy Hollow 2 - The Faerie Prince The Faerie Prince takes us back to Creepy Hollow for the continuation of Violet’s story, from her last trainee mission to graduation and beyond. I must say this book series continues to surprise me at every turn. I’ll try to keep this review spoiler-free, which is very challenging. Violet is paired up with Ryn for her final mission before graduation and their more-than-friends relationship develops really nicely from there. All his romantic gestures throughout the book are very swoon-worthy and managed to win me over completely. Nate, who I didn’t trust from the beginning of book one, turned out even worse than I imagined in this story, to be honest, especially considering what happens in the very end of the book. This book contains a major cliffhanger at the end, so beware of that, if it’s not your thing. I must say the only reason I’m not mad about that is because I already have book three lined up on my kindle. In my opinion, The Faerie Prince was even better than The Faerie Guardian. Creepy Hollow 3 - The Faerie War The Faerie Prince is the conclusion to Violet’s story (but thankfully not to the Creepy Hollow world). Violet now has no memory of all the important things is her life, which makes life very hard for Ryn, the love of her life. I just love how he perseveres and is up for winning her heart all over again, if that’s what it takes. I also love how Violet’s love for him transcends the effects of the potion a little bit, proving how strong it really is. The “war” aspects of the book are very compelling and the reader is left rooting for the (inevitable) victory against Lord Draven. Various twists and turns happen along the way, making the story even more interesting. Personally, I was very satisfied with the way this story turned out and would recommend this book and series to anyone who loves fantasy, adventure and romance.
