In light of the upcoming film, I wanted to read the original. I was delighted to find it so short! It was very detailed, elaborate and thoughtful. None of the 'movie' characters were in it. Just the girl, her father & the beast.

It's not terrible but it's not great either. I didn't mind reading it.

I love the writer's emphasis on God and virtue. I will be sure to read this to my daughter when she is old enough to understand it. This has always been my favorite fairy tale.

The translation isn't the best (there's some weird phrasing and also some misspelled words) but it was fun reading the original version of the classic fairy tale.
