As the lead investigator on the 4MK task force, Detective Sam Porter knows even in death, the killer is far from finished. When he discovers a personal diary in the jacket pocket of the body, Porter finds himself caught up in the mind of a psychopath, unraveling a twisted history in hopes of finding one last girl, all while struggling with personal demons of his own.

With only a handful of clues, the elusive killer’s identity remains a mystery. Time is running out and the Four Monkey Killer taunts from beyond the grave in this masterfully written fast-paced thriller.

What a fantastic book. From the moment it starts to the way it ends, this is an amzingly compelling read, with great characters, wonderful twists and turns and a fresh voice where the killers background is portrayed through a very nice plot device that ties up nicely at the end.

Interspersing extracts from the killer's diary with the action taking place heightens the suspense and fascination with the "whys" in this book, as well as the "what's next." The creepiness factor of the diary is off the chart - the characters are well-drawn - twists and surprises abound. I'd never hear of this author before reading The Fourth Monkey, but his storytelling is masterful and I can't wait for his next book.

After being in a bit of a reading slump lately, I began this book and it really helped me out. It was a very fast paced novel and from page one I was hooked. It really helped me jump back into reading.  The Fourth Monkey killer has been on the loose for years, always managing to miss the cops. Now, when a man is killed, the man is suspected to be this infamous man, since when he was found he had in his position an object that follows the pattern of the previous killings. Detective Sam Porter, one of the men who has been on the Fourth Monkey case from the beginning, is now on the hunt to find a new victim with a limited amount of time to do it while fighting his own inner battles. This book is filled with twists and turns and things the reader will never see coming. I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with mystery, crime, and action. It was very detailed and written well. It was fast paced and had an interesting set of characters. The story switched from present time to a diary that followed the Fourth Monkey Killer as a youth, this was a great add to the storyline and helped see into the mind of this killer. It was a crime book, but with the story of the death of Sams wife, it brought a bit of sadness as well. It was really a great story. The ending was mind blowing and added a great and shocking twist. I was kept on the edge of my seat from page one.  Overall this was a great book. It was just the book I needed to jump back on the book train :)
